Palliative Care Model

The purpose of this model is to utilise local population, mortality and morbidity data to provide estimates of how many people in your region have palliative and end-of-life care needs. Currently data collection efforts focus on the services provided for people in need to End-of-Life and Palliative Care.

The model allows you to change the baseline population and population growth rate, as well as the standard death rate (SDR) and the percent of people in their last year of life in need of end-of-life of palliative care. The model also allows you to change your assumptions about the underlying case of death and their pathway through the last year of life

In addition, the model will provide estimates of the workforce required to meet that need, especially if driven by efforts to recognise peoples’ palliative and end-of-life care needs early
