On Tuesday 17th May David Todd from Synergia presented on System Thinking basics – approaches, tools and techniques as part of our #LearningSeries events. We had an amazing turnout of people who were listening and engaging in the korero led by David.
It was an exciting session, pushing our thinking which hopefully opened up new pathways to knowledge and understanding of how to apply System Thinking approaches, tools and techniques to real world situations.
At the session David unpacked System Thinking basics including topics such as feedback, delays, and unintended consequences, how historical patterns of performance influence how we act today and into the future and how the structure of our systems drives behaviour and performance.
Within this session, those participating were able to take a couple of the practical tools that David shared and put them into practice with interactive activities including creating reference behaviour patterns and causal loop diagrams; two key tools that can be used daily from a system thinking based approach.
